About the event

Join us as we head down to the San Rafael Swell retracing the abandoned railbed, checking out the M&K tunnels, and much more with pictographs & petroglyphs all along the way culminating with ending the day at the pictograph panel in Black Dragon Canyon.

We will be meeting at the Chevron near the mouth of spanish fork canyon at 8:30am, and taking Fairview Canyon over to Huntington.  These miles will all be on asphalt but are quite scenic.  In Huntington we will fuel up and hit the trail for the day.  Based off our pre-runs the route can be done easily in one day, with us ending at black dragon around 5pm.  At that point those who just wanted a day trip will be right next to I-70 and can head home, while those who are interesting in camping in the swell will head to our campsite for the night.

During pre-runs we were able to take a stock 2015 Jeep Wrangler JKU and stock 2008 Chevy Truck on the route, so most any 4x4 should be able to make this trip.  One thing to note is the path down into Black Dragon Canyon is the roughest spot with some overgrowth in places and careful tire placement needed.  Although we were able to get through fine, we are experienced drivers so keep that in mind.

This will be a fun, scenic, mild ride with lots of interesting history along the way.

See you there!
