Join us as we head up into the hills above the "Ghost Town" of Ophir for some semi-technical wheeling and amazing fall colors.

The last few years we have done our trail ride in the Ophir area, but at the end of October and we always comment how we should be running the trail when the leaves are changing at the beginning of the month so here we are.

The trail has been somewhat damaged by the heavy rains this year.  I got through OK in a stock 4 door JKU, however there are some "interesting" spots that will be challenging for stock and moderate built rigs.

If you are an experienced trail rider, you will be fine.

If you are in a built rig, you will be fine.

If you are inexperienced, in a stock rig, but dont care about possibly sliding into a deep ditch or smacking a large rock, you will be fine.

This trail does have some brush/trees tightly lining the route.  Plan on getting rocky mountain pinstriping.  The larger the rig, the higher the chance.  Feel free to bring pruning shears/chainsaw/sawzall/etc... if you are worried and want to cut things back a bit.

After exiting the trail we typically head down to the old school house and surrounding mining era buildings to poke around for those who are interested in seeing the "ghost town" part of Ophir.

The trail ride portion typically takes 3-4 hours depending on how many rigs show up and how quickly we can get past the obstacles.
