When?

September 20th-22rd, starting @ 9:30am day 1, ending around 8pm-ish day 3.

How many slots are available?

16 vehicle slots will be available.

Where will we be going?

This year we are taking a journey through the San Rafael Swell, starting in Ephraim. Along the way we will check out all sorts of unique historic, cultural, and geological sites that are sure to pique your interest.

Vehicle requirements?

Any 4x4 offroad capable, street legal and registered vehicle is welcome. Based off our pre-runs a stock JKU can handle the route but be prepared for some technical sections. Also if it rains the route will become quite muddy.

Trailer Requirements?

This year we will be camping along the route and not staging out of a base camp so anyone bringing a trailer will need to pull it along the trail with them, and setup/takedown each day. The trailer would at least need to have as much clearance and capability as a stock JKU(32" tire) although i would highly advise it being more capable than that to avoid possible damage.  There is one  loose rocky climb that will take around 30 mins to ascend and a return down the same road will require a descent on it.  Good brakes and a capable vehicle will handle the hill fine, but just be aware.  There is also a very loose dirt hill descent would be quite interesting while pulling a trailer without its own brakes, and a somewhat difficult rock crawling canyon on this trip.  The plan currently will be to split the group at those sections so those with trailers can bypass the obstacles and will meet up with the group 30+ mins later, along with any drivers wanting to bypass those ares.

What to expect?

•Be prepared to wheel for 10-12+ hours each day.

•Packed and hitting the trail at 8:30am promptly each day unless otherwise advised

•We will be taking stops along the way for pictures, lunch, and seeing sights.

•Travel speed will be at an average pace determined by the slowest vehicle. Mid and tail gunners will keep the group together.

•There are some narrow spots on the trail surrounded by foliage so be prepared for Rocky Mountain Pinstriping. The larger the vehicle, the more chance for pinstriping.

•Most of trail is quite dusty.

•Some sort of on board air is recommended.

•Keep in mind this is a backcountry trip, not a rock crawling trip, so the trails aren't going to be hardcore challenges the entire time. There are few challenging spots, but nothing extreme.

•Very cold nights and hot days, pack accordingly.

•Expect to see some amazing scenery.

What to bring?

•Good attitude, NO WHINERS (as Petersens magazine likes to say)

•A CB radio isn't required, but extremely highly recommended so you know what's going on.

•Enough food and water to last 3 days, 2 nights in a remote location.

•Camping gear for 2 nights in the desert with the possibility of high wind.

•Enough fuel to go 250ish miles between fill-ups. 1 spare 5 Gallon gas can is required, 2 would be ideal

This is a 3 day trip with lots of miles covered. We will be moving at a decent pace to cover all the routes. Prepare yourself mentally and physically for an awesome time!
